Concept of RSETI

IN India, It is estimated that about 12 million people join the work force every year and non availability of adequate employment opportunities in the organized sector has been one of the serious challenges the country has been facing In such a scenario , there has been a strong need for promoting Self Employment as an alternative carrier for the unemployed rural youth. The Government of India and state government have been implementing many developmental schemes aimed at providing suitable income to Rural families. Recently Government of India has also launched the ambitious programme “ The National Rural Livelihood Mission” with an aim of taking forward the programmes of poverty alleviation and securing livelihood for the poor. This segment is also not able to access formal vocational education due to the time and cost factor . These unemployed youth who are deprived of formal skill oriental education can be made employable by developing certain skill through short duration intensive training programmes

With the objective of mitigating the unemployment problem among the youth of the country, a novel imitative was launched in the year 1982 under the visionary leadership of Dr. Veerendra Heddade by the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Educatiobnal Trust along with Canara bank and Sydicate bank as sponsoring organizations. These three organizations set up a unique Institute for training rural youth for self employment called RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND SELF EMPLOYEMNT TRAINING INSTITUTE( RUDSETI) Over a period of time, out of experience, RUDSETI has developed a unique model for training and enabling the unemployedyouth to establish Micro enterprises and thereby providing employment to others.

Based on the success of the RUDSETI Model , Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India has issued guidelines of CEOs of Commercial Banks to establish RUDSETI (Rural Development and self employment Training Institute) type institutes in all Districts throughout the country and the Institute will be owned and managed by the Lead Bank operating in the respective District Canara bank, the Lead Bank for this District, with active support of the District Administration initiated immediate steps to commence the Institute. The core offering of this institute is “Free and Intensive short term Residential Training” provide to Rural Youth. Another important aspect of this model is its focus on settlement of trained candidates by helping them to set up their own enterprises through “continuous post training follow up and hand holding for almost a period two years after training. Hence the core objective of the CBRSETI is to provide Training for skill development and motivation to rural youth and providing post training escort and hand holding services to ensure establishment of the Micro Enterprises by the trained youth and their sustainability. This is one of the Major projects of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India to empower the rural Youth.
